Supports a healthy menopause*

In Traditional Chinese Medicine the concept of blood is closely allied to energy (Qi). Blood nourishes, moistens, and lubricates the body-mind, circulates nourishment to tendons, muscles and vital organs, and anchors the mind by allowing a clear thought process.

This formula, based on a classic Chinese formula for supporting blood and yin, is especially useful for women with normal heat symptoms such as hot flashes. It is more cooling and moistening than the Meno-Peace formula. Symptom patterns include heat and dryness from stress, excess emotions, difficulty maintaining healthy nutrition, and excessive consumption of spicy foods and alcohol, all of which may damage the yin.

Over time, depletion of fluids from fever, over-exercise, and diarrhea can imbalance the yin and leave heat symptoms, (thirst, dryness, constipation, and fatigue). This formula is also appropriate for the elderly, who tend to have depleted yin.

Rehmannia is a moist yin tonic, counteracting dryness and cooling uncontrollable flaring yang; it also strengthens the kidneys. Cornus is an astringent that supports the kidney and consolidates the yin. The Western herb, Black Cohosh, in a recent study, was considered very supportive during the hormonal changes of menopause. Animal studies have also found that it supports healthy bone density. Along with Vitex, it is believed to support hormonal levels.
